There are so many reasons to participate in the Trot for Hunger!

The Trot for Hunger 5k is a fundraising and community building event that brings awareness to our neighbors in the District experiencing poverty, homelessness and hunger. Last year we provided 367,855 meals to hungry men, women and children, 12,211 showers and 38,152 sets of clothing, and served 26,254 patients during doctor & dentist visits, and emergency housing for 9 senior citizens who had been abused and neglected. As the only DC-based trot in the region, we are excited for our community to join together for a safe & impactful annual tradition that benefits such an important cause.

Registration:

Whether you would like to participate in-person with us at Freedom Plaza OR want to participate virtually, registration occurs right here on this website! Using the buttons above, you can Form a Team, Join a Team, or Register as an Individual. We encourage friends & family to form teams so they can join together and see the collective efforts of their fundraising, and make sure everyone is good to go for race day!

You can participate in-person or virtually!

  • In-person Race & Festival: The Freedom Plaza on November 25th, 2021-Thanksgiving Morning! Join us for a timed or untimed 5k, our Little Turkey 10miler, and a family-friendly festival!

  • Virtual Race: For those who would prefer to race virtually, run a timed or untimed 5k from your neighborhood, local park, or wherever you are during the month, all while raising funds and spreading awareness of SOME's mission!

While this year's event might have slight modifications in place or look slightly different as we work to have a safe event, the need and this mission have never been greater. Your participation not only brings our community together for a wonderful Thanksgiving morning and great race, but it is an important contribution to the work of SOME. Please make sure you've explored the other tabs on our website detailing important 2021 race information, COVID-19 safety precautions, and other key details. And as always, thank you in advance for your support!
