There are many adults and children in Washington, DC who are hungry and homeless. SOME's Trot for Hunger is a 5K run and family walk held on Thanksgiving Day to benefit those individuals experiencing homelessness and poverty in our community. Unemployment and the lack of affordable housing have led to a significant increase in the number of homeless families and individuals. The Trot provides essential support for programs that ensure that hungry District residents have a hot meal -- on Thanksgiving Day and every other day of the year. Please make a gift contribution or register to participate in this year's Trot for Hunger. Our support makes a world of difference in the life of a child or adult in need.
SOME (So Others Might Eat) has been serving the homeless and poor in Washington, DC for 49 years. SOME began as a tiny soup kitchen and now provides more than 1,200 meals to hungry people each day. In addition, SOME provides clothing, medical care, job training, affordable housing, programs for the elderly and other services that empower individuals to break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
