This will be my third time participating in SOME’s Trot for Hunger 5k to help individuals and families that experience homelessness and poverty in Washington, DC.
Two years ago, my one year old daughter, Joanna, joined me in her stroller to race. We we’re making good time, until a gust of wind blew sand in our faces in the final sprint. Last year, I ran on my own virtually, while Joanna napped with her mom. I agreed to compete from a distance with my dear friend Todd. However, my times didn’t improve much without Joanna’s coaching and the excitement of other runners in my vicinity.
This year might provide an opportunity for improved time. I’ve been on a few runs in the last month and more active cycling to work twice a week. Regardless, your support will make a lasting difference in the lives of individuals and families.
Please sponsor me or join me as a participant in this year's Trot for Hunger. Together, our efforts help improve people’s lives now and ensure more sustainable communities for future generations.
SOME (So Others Might Eat) began as a tiny soup kitchen 50 years ago and now provides healthy food, warm clothes, critical medical care, affordable housing, and important job training that break the cycle of homelessness and poverty.
