I left D.C. a year ago but still cannot forget the city's struggle to help the homeless. There are no clear solutions or easy answers, but So Others Might Eat (SOME) helps many people start putting pieces together. And at the very least, the organization ensures that hungry District residents have a hot meal on Thanksgiving Day and every other day of the year.
This will be my fifth time participating in SOME’s Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger 5K, and I'm excited to see that the organization is growing the types of services it offers for homeless and low-income families -- from the basic need for food to healthcare, housing and job training -- and commits that 90% of donations go toward those services. Learn more at www.some.org.
Please make a gift contribution in my name or register to participate in this year's Trot for Hunger. Our support makes a world of difference in the life of a child or adult in need. And for an extra little push, I've pledged to run in a turkey suit if I make it to $1,000! We're almost there!
