Restoring Health and Hope to James

James

“I had lost all hope, and I don’t feel that way anymore. I’m just very blessed for everyone that’s helped me…to restore my sanity and my health and my hope.”

As a young man, James had a complete nervous breakdown that left him homeless. One morning, after years of living on the streets and in shelter, he came to SOME for breakfast. What happened next changed his life forever.

The Embassy Row Hotel is joining in the celebration of Pope Francis’ visit with an event on The Rooftop poolside on September 22, 4:00-9:00 pm. The event will feature some of the Pope's favorite foods, including empanadas and a spreadable dulce de leche. Tickets are $25 and all proceeds will benefit SOME.

Senior

Volunteer Opportunity

You can brighten the life of a low-income senior. Volunteers are needed to serve as regular friendly visitors and/or telephone buddies for homebound seniors, and to provide one-time assistance getting to doctor’s appointments and other engagements. Also, volunteer groups are needed to sponsor bingo and birthday parties for seniors.

Trot for Hunger

Thanksgiving Day Trot for Hunger

Grab your family and friends and join us at DC’s only turkey trot! The Trot for Hunger begins with a Kids’ One Mile Fun Run at 8:30 am, followed by the 5K run/walk at 9:00 am. It is a fun and meaningful way to start Thanksgiving Day.
