SOME is so fortunate that we may rely on the generosity of many residents of the Metro-Washington area and beyond who are committed to helping the poor and homeless of our nation’s capital. Many individuals support SOME by hosting their own events to benefit SOME’s programs and services. Past events organized by adults, students of all ages, religious and civic groups, and companies have included fashion shows, fast-a-thons, tea parties, food or clothing drives, food festivals, yoga classes, and bake sales. This is one way that you can demonstrate your care and concern for those who are less fortunate.
To assist you in organizing your own fundraising event or finding out about events sponsored by members of the community, SOME has created new tools on its website. Click on Plan an event to register your event and create your own personal page to involve your friends and family. You can even add pictures and personal messages! Use customized online tools to help you send out invitations and track the funds you have raised. You may also search for events that are open to the public and sign up to participate. Please check out this exciting new way to make a difference in the lives of the homeless adults and children that we serve.
